What is Notchplasty?
Notchplasty is an ancillary surgical procedure performed to reshape and widen the intercondylar femoral notch. It basically involves removal of 3-5 mm of bone from the lateral femoral condyle, as it is important to widen the intercondylar notch and deepen the anterior roof of the notch.
Conditions when you need Notchplasty
to avoid ACL graft impingement and improve visualization of the lateral wall of the femoral notch during ACL surgery
- ACL graft impingement.
- ACLR surgery.
- Treatment of Arthrofibrosis.
- Presence of bony spurs of the notch both in primary and revision surgery.
