What is Synovectomy?
Synovectomy is a surgical procedure performed for removal of the synovium membrane, a thin membrane that lines the inside of certain joints called “synovial joints.”
People with inflammatory arthritis, the immediate cause of the swelling and pain is usually inflammation and excessive growth of synovium. There are two types of Synovectomy done as per the damage caused.
- Partial Synovectomy
A smaller amount of tissue removed.
- Complete Synovectomy
Entire Synovium is removed.
