A biopsy, also called Synovial biopsy is a surgical procedure for the removal of a piece of tissue lining a joint for examination in a laboratory. The tissue is called the synovial membrane. It is a minor procedure. A needle or an arthroscope is used be the doctor to remove a sample of joint tissue for examining.
Conditions when you need Biopsy
You may undergo a biopsy if you’re experiencing certain signs and symptoms or if your health care provider has identified an area of concern. A Biopsy is recommended to diagnose joint problems. This includes conditions such as:
